"Monitoring and Modelling sandy coastal change on timescales of days to decades." This will be a hybrid seminar. Please join us in Conference Room B or join the meeting virtually.

Abstract:

Understanding how our sandy coastlines are changing on a range of timescales is important for making informed planning decisions related to coastal hazards and future development. This is under-pinned by good quality and long-term data sets in which we can base our understanding on and on suitable numerical models that can capture the processes that we are most interested in.  This presentation will give a short overview of the opportunities in satellite-derived shorelines and present new shoreline modelling methods based on empirical methods to machine learning techniques.
