OED provides a wide variety of scientific and technical, professional, managerial, and administrative development opportunities. Instructor-led classes are supported at the Denver Learning Center in Denver, Colorado, and other USGS office locations across the nation. OED also offers live streaming of classes for remote attendees of scientific and technical classes. OED partners and collaborates with USGS managers to address organizational needs through the design and delivery of developmental activities and programs for all employees.
Strategic Goals
The primary strategic goals of OED are to enhance the scientific and technical skills of the USGS workforce and foster visionary leadership and management professionalism. This is accomplished through a variety of creative programs, performance support processes, and other cost-effective means. OED is also a part of the Bureau's Human Capital (HC) Enterprise. The intent of the HC Enterprise is to facilitate, coordinate, and integrate capabilities to best support the people, operations, customers, and programs of the USGS.
