WaterNow is no longer available as of December 15, 2023. An alternative USGS service, called WaterAlert, is available. WaterAlert provides notifications to your email or phone for changes in water conditions based on thresholds you choose.
The WaterNow service debuted in January 2013, allowing users to query a gage using text and email to receive the latest observations. Over the past decade, the evolution of text-based notifications has complicated the service’s maintenance. In addition, community interest in the service has decreased. WaterNow is no longer available, as of December 15, 2023.
An alternative service, WaterAlert, can be set up to track the same gages. More customizable subscriptions can be created and maintained through the website, which is accessible on both desktop and mobile devices. Alerts can still be delivered via text or email depending on preference. Information on how to get started with WaterAlert including a video tutorial and frequently asked questions can be found here.
