KWcam image taken on September 29, 2021, at 3:30 p.m. HST. This image shows fissures that began erupting within Halemaʻumaʻu crater at the summit of Kīlauea shortly after 3:20 p.m. HST. The fissures opened east of the large island in the center of the lava lake that was active from December 2020 until May 2021. Fissures are generating lava flows on the surface of the inactive lava lake, and a vigorous gas plume. USGS webcam image.
