Holly Weyers

Ms. Holly Weyers is the Regional Director for the Southeast Region (SER) at the United States Geological Survey (USGS).

Ms. Weyers is responsible for the scientific and operational leadership of the USGS science centers located in the Southeast (DOI Regions 2, 4, and 6), which include field centers in the states of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Missouri, Iowa, Texas, Oklahoma, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. 

Ms. Weyers joined the USGS in 2001 as a Biologist with the Maryland-Delaware-DC Water Science Center where she worked for the National Water Quality Assessment for the Potomac-Delmarva Study. She also served as the USGS Emergency Management Coordinator, the lead for the Hurricane Sandy Supplemental, and Science Liaison for the Southeast Regional Director, with responsibility for coordinating the region’s scientific activities and programs. She has led USGS science activities and business models related to Gulf Restoration efforts, oversees USGS efforts related to restoration of the Everglades and has served as the Acting Associate Director for the Office of Administration. In addition, Ms. Weyers coordinated the USGS 2018 Hurricane Supplemental; coordinates all SER USGS hurricane response activities including, most recently, Hurricanes Helene and Milton efforts; and has helped identify new science directions and priorities for the SER. 

Ms. Weyers is a graduate of the University of Alabama, where she earned her Master of Science in Aquatic Ecology. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology from Auburn University.
