Detailed Description
Animation comparing a natural color Landsat 8 satellite image of Atlanta, GA with satellite-based surface temperatures. Buildings and impervious surfaces trap heat, leading to higher temperatures in urban areas - a phenomenon generally referred to as the Urban Heat Island effect. Landsat Surface Temperature satellite products can be used to characterize differences in surface temperature.
