Teresa Kirschling, Ph.D.

Teresa Kirschling is the Deputy Associate Director for Energy and Mineral Resources at the U.S. Geological Survey. 

As Deputy Associate Director for Energy and Mineral Resources Teresa oversees the science directions and planning of the Energy Resources Program and Mineral Resources Program. This portfolio covers the full suite of geologic resources and includes science and mapping of domestic and global energy and mineral resources, and the collection of the Nation’s official statistics on supply, demand, and trade of mineral commodities. In her previous role Teresa was the Quality Management System (QMS) Manager for the Energy and Mineral Resources Mission Area. She has developed and implemented a graded approach QMS throughout the Mission Area laboratories. Prior to joining the USGS Teresa was a National Research Council fellow at NIST and was on the engineering faculty at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology.
