Development of a Geographic Information System Methodology for the Public Drinking Water Source Water Assessment Program in Tennessee
Detailed Description
Presenters are Rebecca Ransom and David Ladd with the USGS Lower Mississippi Gulf Water Science Center in Nashville, TN.
Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) and the United States Geological Survey began collaborating in 2021 to develop a methodology for geographic information system (GIS) analysis and reporting to support TDEC’s Source Water Assessment Program (SWAP). This systematic GIS approach for assessing public drinking water sources enables public water systems to be better informed of potential vulnerabilities through consistent, accessible, and up to date SWAP reports for the purpose of protecting and managing public supply drinking water sources across the state of Tennessee.
