Excavated ponds beside Crane Creek in the Klamath Basin
Detailed Description
To restore aquatic habitat for fish and amphibians, a manmade canal was filled in except for six ponds. Ponded water provides warm water breeding habitat for Oregon spotted frogs. Filling in the canal directed more cool water from springs into remnant sections of the historical Crane Creek, visible to the right of the ponds. USGS scientists monitored the movement of Oregon spotted frogs post-restoration.
