The USGS mapped Crater Lake, Oregon using sonar, in cooperation with the National Park Service, the University of New Hampshire, and C&C Technologies.
Scientists will use the new map to study Crater Lake's biology, chemistry, geology, and other areas of interest. The new map is much more accurate than the last map made in 1959. The National Park Service will use this map to help preserve Crater Lake, and to help you enjoy the park on your next visit.
