Natural color image of the Skagit Valley of Washington taken from a sensor mounted on a UAS

In April 2014 the NUSO worked with the Western Washington University (WWU) to investigate the feasibility of conducting elk population surveys in dense, forested areas of the Skagit Valley of Washington using the color and infrared (thermal) sensors on the Raven A and T-Hawk UASs UAS platforms.
