USGS Oceanographer Named to IPCC Report

Detailed Description

Asbury (Abby) H. Sallenger has been named one of the authors of a chapter in the next IPCC report, due to be published in 2014. Sallenger has been assigned to co-author Chapter 5 of the Fifth Assessment Report, entitled Coastal Systems and Low-Lying Areas. This chapter will contain an international assessment of climate change impacts, adaptation and vulnerabilities for coastal and low-lying areas. Sallenger is an oceanographer who leads the USGS National Assessment of Coastal Change Hazards, based in St. Petersburg, FL, which investigates how coastal environments change over the long term and during extreme storms.
