Detailed Description

The Water Quality Portal (WQP) is the product of a long-term collaboration between the National Water Quality Monitoring Council, the USGS, and the EPA. By combining data from three federal data databases- USGS NWIS, EPA STORET, and USDA STEWARDS - the Water Quality Portal provides easy access to over 250 million discrete water quality sample results from over 2.1 million sites in a services-first, standards-driven environment. The WQP's use is steadily increasing, serving and average of over 500 million records a month from June-December 2014. This presentation will go over basic use of the WQP and demonstrate the potential of using WQP web services along with additional open-source client tools to answer questions and get work done, including data discovery, dynamic report generation, and statistical analysis.
