Recent storms in north-central and northeast Nebraska have caused high flows in several rivers, streams and creeks.
Due to heavy recent rainfalls across portions of Nebraska, many USGS streamgages in the northcentral and northeast part of the state are experiencing high flows. These affected areas have been suffering moderate to severe drought conditions over the past several weeks. The map of Nebraska Current Water Conditions shown below is part of our new web site. Several Nebraska streamgages are monitoring the highest flows in the past 5-10 years. In the past two days, USGS technicians have made 30 measurements at 23 streamgages in nine different river basins in Nebraska to verify the peak flows and water levels. The peak at the USGS gaging station at Clear Creek was the second highest peak in Clear Creek's 21 years of streamgage history, 2nd to the peak of 1999.
