Conservation Minute...
Success! The District held our 2024 Annual Meeting last Thursday at the Gallery On West and we had a great evening! After an awesome dinner catered by the Log House Restaurant, guest speaker Bob Barr from IUPUI spoke to us about our Yellow River Watershed. Thanks again to Mr. Barr for making the long trip up from Indy to educate us. Supervisor and Chairman Mike Large was re-elected, we are happy to have Mike on the board for another three-year term. To those that attended, thank you for joining us, we hope to see you again next year!

2024 CWI Grant
Invasives Removal
Cost Share Program
The District is proud to announce that we are the recipients of a Clean Water Indiana Grant that will assist landowners with the cost of invasives plant removal from their woodlands! We are partnering with our neighbors to the north in St. Joseph County SWCD and will be able to help 10 landowners with between 10 and 20 acres of woodlands, and 20 landowners with less than 10 acres.
Applications for the larger acreages will be accepted until May 31, 2024 and applications for the smaller acreages will be taken continuously and dated as received. Applications will be reviewed and selected based on a ranking system similar to the one used in the federal NRCS EQIP program. Recipients will be notified and technical guidance for implementation will be provided, after which removal can begin! We look forward to being able to assist landowner with this increasingly important natural resource concern.
