Intertidal Temperature Data from Kachemak Bay, Prince William Sound, Katmai National Park and Preserve, and Kenai Fjords National Park

These data are part of the Gulf Watch Alaska (GWA) long-term monitoring program. This dataset consists of date, time, and temperature measurements from intertidal rocky sampling sites, including predicted tide height at the time of the reading, which is used to distinguish air from water temperature readings. The data are provided as comma separated values (.csv) files derived from data downloaded

GIS and Hydraulic Model data in Support of a Geomorphic and Hydraulic Assessment of Glacial Outburst Floods on the Snow River near Seward, Alaska

Provided here are three data packages: (1) geospatial vector data showing mapped main channels and alluvial fan extents in the lower 10 kilometers of the Snow River flood plain near Seward, Alaska as part of an assessment of river channel stability under an outburst flood regime, (2) a height-above-river raster produced from 2008 lidar bare-earth elevations for the lower 10 kilometers of the Snow

Tracking Data for Long-tailed Ducks (Clangula hyemalis)

This metadata document describes the data contained in the "rawData" folder of this data package. This data package contains all data collected by the Argos System from 85 satellite transmitters attached to Long-tailed Ducks on their breeding range in arctic and western Alaska, 1998-2005. Five data files are included in the "rawData" folder of this data package. Two data files (with identical cont

Sea Otter Spraint Data from Kachemak Bay, Katmai National Park and Preserve, Kenai Fjords National Park and Prince William Sound

These data are part of the Gulf Watch Alaska (GWA) long-term monitoring program. This dataset consist of observations of sea otter (Enhydra lutris) fecal samples (spraint). Observers examined fresh spraint piles to identify major prey classes in the samples and to determine sea otter diets in the Gulf of Alaska region.

Intertidal Mussel (Mytilus) Data from Prince William Sound, Katmai National Park and Preserve, and Kenai Fjords National Park

These data are part of the Gulf Watch Alaska (GWA) long-term monitoring program and describe mussel sampling and observations conducted in the northern Gulf of Alaska. This dataset consists of six comma separated files (.csv): 1) mussel sampling site layout information, 2) mussel counts for mussels greater than 20 millimeters in a quadrat, 3) mussel size measurements for mussels greater than 20 mi

Tissue Concentrations and Congener Profiles of Harmful Algal Toxins in Seabirds, Forage Fish, and Other Organisms

These data are in four tables and contain results from screening tissues of marine organisms for the presence of harmful algal bloom (HAB) toxins: saxitoxin and its related congeners (STX) and domoic acid (DA). Samples collected by USGS or submitted to our laboratory by partners or other stakeholders are screened using commercially-available enzyme linked immunosorbent assays (ELISA). A subset of

Flood Frequency Data for a Streamgage in the Hulahula River Basin, Alaska, 2011-2021

This data release provides the source data and results of a flood frequency analysis for a streamgage in the Hulahula River Basin, Alaska. Data are provided for one streamgage that had at least 10 years of peak-flow record. The data include streamgage information, PeakFQ input (.txt and .PSF files) PeakFQ output (.PRT, .EXP, and .JPEG files), flood frequency parameters, flood frequency estimates f

Whole Rock Major and Trace Element Chemistry for Igneous Rocks from Tyonek, Lime Hills, Talkeetna, McGrath, and Lake Clark Quadrangles, Western Alaska Range, Alaska

This data release contains whole rock major and trace element data for 69 igneous rock samples collected from the Western Alaska Range between 2011 and 2012. The Series field relates to chronological units discussed in Jones et al. (2021, Geosphere) and Todd et al. (2022 IN PREP). Descriptions are from original collector notebooks and are provided here for informational purposes only.

Charley River Cosmogenic Isotope Data Collected 2019-2021

This data release comprises three tables containing cosmogenic beryllium-10 and aluminum-26 concentrations and related data from samples collected at four sites along the Charley River in central Alaska in 2019, prepared in 2020 at the University of Vermont (UVM), and measured at the Purdue Rare Isotope Measurement lab (PRIME) in 2021. The file "geology_siteLocations_Charley_bender_2022.csv" conta

Geochemical, Geochronologic, Rock-Eval, and Spectral Gamma Ray Data for Selected Triassic Rocks in Northwestern Alaska

This set of data files contains analyses of samples representing the Triassic Shublik and Otuk Formations in Alaska. The samples were collected from the Brontosaurus 1 well and measured stratigraphic sections at Surprise Creek and Cape Lisburne. The data set includes total organic carbon (TOC), Rock-Eval (Tmax) data, geochemical data from inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectroscopy-ma

Mapping Data of Eelgrass (Zostera marina) Distribution, Alaska and Baja California, Mexico

Coastal waters of southwestern Alaska the Baja California Peninsula, Mexico contain extensive beds of seagrass (eelgrass: Zostera marina and widgeongrass: Ruppia marina). Provided here are vector and raster geospatial datasets that characterize the distribution of seagrass, seaweeds, and other coastal habitats in waters adjacent to five National Wildlife Refuges in Alaska (Togiak, NWR, Izembek NWR

Tracking Data for Pacific Walrus (Odobenus rosmarus divergens)

This metadata document describes the data contained in the "processedData" folder of this data package. This data package contains all data collected by the Argos System from 921 satellite transmitters attached to adult Pacific walruses in the Bering and Chukchi Seas, in U.S. and Russian waters, 1988-2019. The raw data were processed to accomplish two goals: flag implausible location estimates and
