Kīlauea Iki lava fountain from HVO
Detailed Description
Lava fountain rises above Kīlauea Iki Crater. Note the mounded black tephra deposit that is building a cone on the leeward side of the fountain (right). This cone was eventually named Pu‘u Pua‘i (gushing hill). Photograph was taken at 1730 hrs on November 20, 1959.
