Real-time Data

Our scientists gather information through periodic or continuous measurement in the field to provide a view of current conditions. In some instances, observations may not be subject to rigorous review before release; this will be noted in the documentation accompanying the data.

Lake-level data for Wisconsin

Real-time water levels and long-term statistics for lakes and reservoirs in Wisconsin. Lake data are collected and stored as continuous time-series data from automated recorders.

Mohawk River Ice Jam Cam

The Mohawk River between New York State Barge Canal Locks 7 and 8 near Schenectady, NY is susceptible to ice jams during periods of river-ice break-up. Ice jams in this reach typically form at channel constrictions, bridge piers, lock and dam structures, and sections with a reduced floodplain.

Find and Access Data at EROS

The EROS data archive contains a vast array of satellite imagery, aerial photos, digitized maps, elevation and land cover products, and much more. Most are easily downloadable via the internet.

Sea Level Rise Animation

The animations are not a prediction of sea level rise, but rather illustrate areas of low elevation by a blue color simulating coverage by water. The numbers of people in those areas are tabulated.

Wisconsin Real-Time Groundwater-Level Network

The Real-Time Groundwater Level Network contains data typically recorded at 15-60 minute intervals, stored onsite, and then transmitted to USGS offices every 1 to 4 hours, depending on the data relay technique used. Recording and transmission times may be more frequent during critical events. All real-time data are provisional and subject to revision.

Volcano Monitoring Data

Many volcanoes in the U.S. are monitored by arrays of several instruments that detect subtle movements within the earth and changes in gas and water chemistry. The Volcano Hazards Program streams this data to its Volcano Observatories and makes it available on volcano-specific websites.

Water-Quality Summaries for Several Major River Basins in Colorado

Summaries of water-quality monitoring data are now available for several major river basins in Colorado. For each basin, current data from a network of sites are compared to previously collected data and instream standards. Lowess curves are provided on plots for selected constituents where a sufficient period of record and limited censored data are available.

Alaska Volcano Observatory - Is Ash Falling?

Reports of ash fall are important to us; we use your observations to assess the character and size of an eruption plume. We report these data to the National Weather Service so they can keep their Ashfall Advisories current. Additionally, reports of NO ashfall during an eruption with expected ashfall are also important to us.
