Sediment core data from offshore Palos Verdes, California

The seven files included in this U.S. Geological Survey data release are data from a set of sediment cores acquired from the continental slope, offshore Los Angeles and the Palos Verdes Peninsula, adjacent to the Palos Verdes Fault. Gravity cores were collected by the USGS in 2009 (cruise ID S-I2-09-SC; http://cmgds.marine.usgs.gov/fan_info.php?fan=SI209SC), and vibracores were collected with the

Volcano Monitoring Data

Many volcanoes in the U.S. are monitored by arrays of several instruments that detect subtle movements within the earth and changes in gas and water chemistry. The Volcano Hazards Program streams this data to its Volcano Observatories and makes it available on volcano-specific websites.

Water-Quality Summaries for Several Major River Basins in Colorado

Summaries of water-quality monitoring data are now available for several major river basins in Colorado. For each basin, current data from a network of sites are compared to previously collected data and instream standards. Lowess curves are provided on plots for selected constituents where a sufficient period of record and limited censored data are available.

Bathymetry and Backscatter Intensity of the Sea Floor South of Long Island, New York

Surveys of the bathymetry and backscatter intensity of the sea floor south of Long Island, New York, were carried out in November 1998 using a Simrad EM1000 multibeam echosounder mounted on the Canadian Coast Guard ship Frederick G. Creed. The purpose of the multibeam echosounder surveys was to explore the bathymetry and backscatter intensity of the sea floor in several areas off the southern coas

Geospatial data collected from tagged sea otters in central California, 1998-2012

The data are .csv files of tagged sea otter re-sighting locations (henceforth, resights) collected in the field using a combination of VHF radio telemetry and direct observation using high powered (80x) telescopes. Sea otters were tracked by shore based observers from the date of tagging until the time of radio battery failure or the animals death, whichever comes first. The frequency of re-sighti

Alaska Volcano Observatory - Is Ash Falling?

Reports of ash fall are important to us; we use your observations to assess the character and size of an eruption plume. We report these data to the National Weather Service so they can keep their Ashfall Advisories current. Additionally, reports of NO ashfall during an eruption with expected ashfall are also important to us.

Spectacled Eider (Somateria fischeri) Nest, Capture, and Resight Records Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta, Alaska

This dataset contains capture, measurement, and resight data from Spectacled Eiders (Somateria fischeri) near the Kashunuk River and on Kigigak Island on the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta, Alaska since 1991. This dataset contains nest visit records of Spectacled Eiders (Somateria fischeri) near the Kashunuk River and on Kigigak Island on the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta, Alaska since 1991.

Water-quality datasets and E. coli predictions for selected streams in the Upper Duck River Watershed, central Tennessee, 2007-2010

From October 2007 through September 2010, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in cooperation with the Tennessee Duck River Development Agency monitored water quality at 24 sites in the Upper Duck River Watershed. Water samples were collected and analyzed for carbonate hardness, acid neutralizing capacity, chloride, ammonia, nitrate, nitrite, phosphorus, boron, bromine, Enterococci and Escherichia co
