Electrical engineer Kristi Kline arrived at USGS Earth Resources Observation and Science (EROS) Center before Landsat 7 launched, before the government stopped charging for Landsat data, and when it took all day to process just 100 scenes.
Her retirement from EROS in the role of New Missions Branch chief at the end of May 2024 comes amid preparations for the 10th Landsat mission, soaring data usage and unimaginably fast processing. But during a new Eyes on Earth podcast episode, where Kline sums up her career and EROS’ advancements in that time, she names what she’ll miss even more than all of that: the people.
“I definitely think there’s a camaraderie there that we all are very keen on the mission that EROS does and what we’re doing on a daily basis,” Kline said.
