Large Scale Drivers of Stress

Drivers of stress at broad geographic scales can go unnoticed at the local level but may have dramatic impacts on ecosystems over time. Many times these drivers are beyond the control of regional environmental managers, such as with changes in climate. Instead, managers develop approaches that help ecosystems respond to these changes. The GLSC studies the impacts of climate change on lake ecosystems, endangered species, habitats, and ecosystem services such as inland fisheries. Scientists also study the impacts of changing land use patterns in urban environments and stream flow alterations across landscapes.
