Monitoring of Water Resources with Lower Sioux Indian Community

The USGS partners with the Lower Sioux Indian Community to provide information needed to better manage their water resources, especially groundwater levels and quality.

Currently, water level in one groundwater well is monitored in real time.

Approach

•Maintain and operate a continuous groundwater station.

•Field calibrate and verify that instrumentation and equipment are recording and transmitting accurate data.

Objectives

1.Continuously monitor and record water level, temperature and precipitation.

2.Make all data publicly available through the National Water Information System (NWIS).
