Volunteer Bio: williams101748

Congratulations to TNMCorps volunteer williams101748, who recently became one of the newest members of the Theodolite Assemblage with over 2000 points submitted!

When TNMCorps volunteers earn the Theodolite Assemblage badge, we reach out asking if they’d like to be featured in the upcoming newsletter, and fortunately Tom (aka, williams101748) was willing to share a bit about himself and why he enjoys volunteering with The National Map Corps. We love getting to know more about our volunteers and hope you do too!

“Tom Williams currently resides in Northeast Pennsylvania. Tom began his career as a land surveyor in 1969 and worked primarily in the Pocono Mountain region. Tom has always had a love of geography and cartography. Throughout his employment in surveying, Tom utilized and appreciated the USGS quad sheets which were vital to his daily surveys. Coincidentally, during Tom’s early surveying years, he also relied upon the Wild T-1A Theodolite which is the very level he has currently achieved in the TNMCorps!

“Later in his career, Tom served as the Facilities Director of a large public school district in Pennsylvania. Upon retirement, Tom returned to his first love, land surveying.

“When he is not mapping, Tom enjoys hunting, hiking, fly fishing in local streams, biking, kayaking, and volunteering in the community.”
