Model Archive Summary for Surrogate Regression of Fine-Sediment Particles for Lake Tahoe Tributaries

September 23, 2021

This USGS data release presents Model Archive Summaries (MAS) and tabular calibration data used to develop surrogate regressions to estimate fine sediment particles flowing into Lake Tahoe. Fine sediment particles in the size range of 0.5 to 16.0 micrometers (μm) represent the primary size range of suspended sediment responsible for clarity reduction in Lake Tahoe. Models will be used to create estimates of tributary fine sediment particles flowing into Lake Tahoe and to better understand the linkage of annual sediment loads and lake clarity. Surrogate regression models were developed for site-specific monitoring locations within the Lake Tahoe Interagency Monitoring Program (LTIMP) and archived individually as separate child items. This ScienceBase data release is intended to be an ongoing reference, which will be re-evaluated and updated annually based on USGS policy. Child items represent repositories of MAS and tabular calibration data for the following LTIMP sites: (1) 10336610 UPPER TRUCKEE RIVER AT SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, CA (2) 10336645 GENERAL CREEK NR MEEKS BAY CA* (3) 10336660 BLACKWOOD CREEK NR TAHOE CITY CA* (4) 10336676 WARD CREEK AT HWY 89 NR TAHOE PINES CA* (5) 10336698 THIRD CREEK NR CRYSTAL BAY, NV* (6) 10336700 INCLINE CREEK NR CRYSTAL BAY, NV* (7) 10336790 TROUT CREEK SOUTH LAKE TAHOE CA* *, indicates site regression is in development
