Publications
FORT scientists have produced more than 1,500 peer reviewed publications that are registered in the USGS Publications Warehouse, along with many others prior to their work at the USGS or in conjunction with other government agencies.
Data
Our interdisciplinary, integrated science teams develop various data sets in support of the USGS mission areas. This information then aids natural resource managers in decision making and support of the complex issues they face in today's world. The data and tools listed here are official USGS data releases.

FORT scientists publish an annotated bibliography of scientific research on a threatened species, the Gunnison sage-grouse
In 2014, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) listed Gunnison sage-grouse as threatened under the Endangered Species Act because of declining populations and increasing habitat loss. To aid conservation practitioners, a recently published U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Open-File Report compiles and summarizes 53 research products about Gunnison sage-grouse published between 2005 and 2022.
FORT scientist James Meldrum will be presenting and participating as a science advisor during the first in-person meeting of the WiRē Partner Community of Practice in Denver, Colorado, on Oct. 24-26, 2023.
The meeting will convene practitioners and scientists from 19 organizations, including local (fire protection districts), state (Colorado and Alaska), and federal (USGS, BLM, USFS) agencies and regional non-profits, for in-depth discussions around the co-production of actionable social science for supporting wildfire risk mitigation on private property.
