USGS and the Secretariat for the Pacific Regional Environmental Programme Strengthen Ties
Matthew Andersen, USGS Office of International Programs, attended the 4th Pacific Ocean Pacific Climate Change Conference, sponsored by the Secretariat for the Pacific Regional Environmental Programme (SPREP), the National University of Samoa, and Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand, 20-24 May 2024.
The 4th Pacific Ocean Pacific Climate Change Conference offered two days of workshops and three days of natural and social sciences presentations. In addition to renewing and strengthening ties with long time Pacific Islands USGS collaborators such as Australia, the meeting allowed for conversations with new acquaintances and SPREP staff about how to take advantage of the Memorandum of Understanding between SPREP and USGS signed by Director General Nawadra and Director Applegate in December 2022.
