Detailed Description

Prior to Memo to All Banders, the Bird Banding Laboratory utilized Bird Banding Notes to communicate with banders between 1922 and 1966, issuing a total of 6 volumes. Volume 1 spanned from 1922-1930. Vol. 1 No. 1 of the Bird Banding Notes was released April 15, 1922. Subjects in this note are 1. Announcement by the Chief of the Biological Survey; 2. Permits; 3. Drop trap; and 4. Bird Banding Methods by S. Prentiss Baldwin – including sections: references, where to do banding, traps (drop trap, gathering cage, and trap doors for box or hole nests), baits, handling birds (holding, change of position, release), bands, protect your traps, when to visit the traps, danger to operator, tools and supplies, and records (identify the bird, day card, and permanent files).
