Detailed Description
This is a zoomed in photograph of the eastern edge of Halema‘uma‘u Crater taken two minutes after the 5:45 AM HST July 11 collapse explosion event. Steam is intermixed with a very minor ash that looks pinkish-brown in color. The energy released by the event was equivalent to a M5.3 earthquake.
