Collecting Methane Hydrate from a Seep
![Image shows gas being collected by an ROV at the bottom of the sea](https://d9-wret.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/assets/palladium/production/s3fs-public/styles/full_width/public/thumbnails/image/FK190612-ROV%20Screenshots-20190610-SuBastian--18.jpg?itok=p00EJlnJ)
Detailed Description
Methane bubbles bound in hydrate. These bubbles, caught by the gas tight sampler, have had ice-like crystalline structures called hydrate form around them. Hydrate has a very specific range of temperature and pressure where it can exist, so once the sampler sucks in the bubbles, the hydrate will collapse.
