David O'Leary is setting up the RTK GPS base station to establish a base elevation on a point above the Colorado River downstream of the rapids of Cataract Canyon. This portion of the river was previously submerged by Lake Powell but has been returning to river status for the last several years The elevation will be used to compare current river bed elevations to pre-dam river elevations as lake sediment is scoured away. The project worked in cooperation with the citizen science group Returning Rapids.
