The Hoverprobe 2000 is an air boat with a sediment core driller mounted in the middle of the boat. In May 2006, the USGS Pennsylvania Water Science Center conducted a project for the Philadelphia Water Department to collect sediment cores behind low head dams along the Schuylkill River to test for trace metals, pesticides, and polychlorinated biphenyls. USGS conducted sediment core extractions at Black Rock Dam and Fairmont Dam on the Schuylkill River near Philadelphia.
