Detailed Description

The Johnson-Sea-Link, a manned submersible that can accommodate four people, is a critical component of these deep-coral ecosystem studies. Equipped with a manipulator arm, vacuum-suction sampler, specimen boxes, and push cores, it is lowered into the ocean for its daily dive. Photograph courtesy of USGS DISCOVRE.
