Puget Sound Priority Ecosystems Science: Integrated, process-based research that provides empirical data and model predictions in nearshore environments, to inform management and restoration efforts and to fill fundamental knowledge gaps. Four key research areas and tasks:

• Sediment transport and coastal habitat dynamics
• Habitat complexity and ecological functions
• Contaminant dispersal, distribution, and biotic impacts
• Coastal ecosystem and change modeling
