Pulses of lava from the fissure 8 vent outlet sometimes occur every few minutes. This is a series of photographs taken over about 4 minutes from the geologists' observation point near the fissure 8 vent. Lava within the channel is almost out of sight then a marked pulse comes through the system creating a banked flow of lava that produces spray that splatters onto the channel margin. After the third photo was taken, lava level decreased to nearly out of sight again.
