SEM REE-bearing Mineral Identification

Left: Monazite grains with rare earth elements lanthenum, cerium and neodinium are associated with zirconium, pyrite and potassium feldspar. Right: Rare earth element carbonate replacement of potassium feldspar with associated ilmenite. Mineral identification was performed on the micrometer scale using a combination of scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and electron microprobe.
