Detailed Description
TOP: State-of-the-art multibeam and bathymetric sidescan sonar systems are used to collect high-resolution bathymetry and acoustic backscatter data. These data are the foundation on which most groundtruthing and derivative products are based. Bathymetry data display the shape of the seafloor including rough terrain (possibly rock outcrops?), smooth terrain (possibly sedimented?), canyons, and anthropogenic features. [larger version]
