Shortnose sturgeon (Acipenser brevirostrum)

Mr. Kieffer leads/co-leads investigations of migrant sturgeons throughout New England, focusing on the Connecticut, Merrimack, and Piscataqua rivers.  He is a member of the Connecticut River Atlantic Salmon Commission, the Gulf of Maine sturgeon research collaboration, and contributes to hydropower relicensing and migration corridor restoration relative to Connecticut River shortnose sturgeon.
