Tissue sampling from Appalachian Grizzled skipper
Detailed Description
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service considers the Appalachian grizzled skipper (Pyrgus wyandot). The small number of known colonies, the small number of individuals per colony, and the lack of information on the genetic relationships among the colonies, populations, and metapopulations render the Appalachian grizzled skipper vulnerable to extinction. This study involves research and monitoring at the colony, population, metapopulation, and species scales and will help guide the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's conservation strategies at the species or subspecies scale. Photo shows tissue sampling for genomic characterization of the Appalachian grizzled skipper.
