Tripod deployment along the outer perimeter of Diamond Shoals, NC

Detailed Description

Marinna Martini, Woods Hole, Coastal and Marine Science Center,  prepares to deploy tripods at three sites along the outer perimeter of Diamond Shoals, North Carolina. Mounted on the tripods were instruments to measure surface waves, pressure, current velocity, bottom turbulence, suspended-sediment profiles, and sea-floor sand-ripple bedforms; one tripod also held a visual camera system. The measurements were used to record the oceanographic and sediment-transport processes that maintain the offshore sand shoal.
