USGS oceanographer measures water and sediment movement
Detailed Description
In collaboration with other organizations and USGS offices, the Woods Hole Coastal and Marine Science Center developed the unvegetated to vegetated marsh ratio (UVVR) for land managers to use in estimating the potential vulnerability of coastal wetlands. The estimates are based on sediment supply and the ratio of open water to vegetation. The center’s field studies validated the results of the new method.
