USGS Scientists filter seawater for eDNA aboard research vessel
Detailed Description
Alexis Weinnig, USGS Biologist, and NOAA Scientist Ashley Marranzino work together to filter seawater for eDNA from a CTD rosette while aboard the NOAA Ship Okeanos Explorer. eDNA will allow for the detection of biology in the surrounding seawater. Using a CTD rosette with niskin bottles allows scientist to collect water at discreet depths throughout the water column, from the seafloor to the surface.
