Detailed Description

Random Site: 5SM18 West Transect; Depth: 6.1 Meters (20 Feet); Distance from river mouth: 4.5 Kilometers (2.8 Miles) east; Pre/Post Dam Removal: 3 years pre-dam removal; Lat/Long: 48.13592923,-123.51082988; Site Description: This is a shallow site. Sediment is a gravel/sand mixture. Red, green and brown seaweed is abundant. Six species of browns were recorded including perennial seaweed Pterygophora californica (0:34 seconds), Alaria marginata (0:23 seconds) and acid kelp Desmarestia (0:11, 1:17 seconds). A variety of invertebrates are present but none are abundant. Invertebrates seen on video: stubby rose anemone Urticina coriacea (0:46 seconds). Permanent transect K1 West will be established 57 meters WNW (295°) of this site in 2012.
