Detailed Description
Permanent Site: F1 West Transect; Depth: 6.7 Meters (22.0 Feet); Distance from river mouth: 1.3 Kilometers (0.8 Miles) east; Pre/Post Dam Removal: 6 years post-dam removal; Lat/Long: 48.15292999, -123.55078602; Site Description: This is a shallow site. Substrate remains predominantly sand. Larger brown seaweeds were present. These species are usually attached to gravel-cobble substrates indicating that the sandy substrate might be just a thin layer on the surface. Eight species of brown seaweed were found. The perennial seaweed Pterygophora californica (1:06 seconds) was common as well as three-ribbed kelp Cymathere triplicata (1:04, 1:15 seconds) and Alaria marginata (1:01 seconds). Bull kelp Nereocystis luetkeana (1:02 seconds) was present. No invertebrates were seen except for one Epiactis anemone. Several species of flat fish were at the site including sanddabs (Citharichthys sp.) (2:18, 2:24 seconds), starry flounder (Platichthys stellatus) (2:34 seconds) and rock sole (Lepidopsetta bilineata) (2:45 seconds).
