Detailed Description

Permanent Site: F2 West Transect; Depth: 12.3 Meters (40.3 Feet); Distance from river mouth: 1.5 Kilometers (0.9 Miles) east; Pre/Post Dam Removal: 2 years post-dam removal; Lat/Long: 48.15672004,-123.55036603; Site Description: Substrate is mainly gravel mixed with a little cobble and an occasional boulder. Only remaining seaweeds are the dead stalks of the perennial seaweed Pterygophora californica (1:03, 1:06 seconds). There is no new growth of other seaweeds, as opposed to that seen on the F2 East Transect – 2013 video. Invertebrates are common, especially truncate softshell clams (Mya truncata). Many of the rocks that used to be covered by seaweeds have fan hydroids growing on them (0:32, 1:01 seconds). The yellow blotches seen on rocks are encrusting bryozoans (0:25 seconds). Other invertebrates seen on video: blood sea star Henricia leviuscula leviuscula (1:35 seconds), rainbow sea star Orthasterias koehleri (1:48 seconds).
