L1 East Transect – 2013

Permanent Site: L1 East Transect; Depth: 10.3 Meters (33.9 Feet); Distance from river mouth: 2.3 Kilometers (1.4 Miles) west; Pre/Post Dam Removal: 2 years post-dam removal; Lat/Long: 48.13957527,-123.59359993; Site Description: This transect is medium depth. Substrate is now mainly fine sediment/sand/mud covered in a layer of brown diatoms (0:09 seconds). Scattered boulders are present (0:44 seconds). Seaweed is gone except for an occasional Agarum fimbriatum (1:31 seconds). Several species of feather duster tubeworms are abundant as are truncate softshell clams (Mya truncata). Invertebrates seen on video: sunflower sea star Pycnopodia helianthoides (0:28, 1:13 seconds); staghorn bryozoan Heteropora pacifica (yellow clumps on boulder at 0:47 seconds); giant sea cucumber Parastichopus californicus (1:17 seconds); vermillion sea star Mediaster aequalis (1:29 seconds).
