Detailed Description

The US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) office in Huntington, WV provides a number of floodplain management services. These include base flood elevation (BFE) evaluations, watershed modeling, project planning, and responding to numerous technical questions. USACE has found that several publicly available USGS data resources are helpful in providing these services to USACE customers. These USGS data resources include the National Hydrography Dataset (NHD), StreamStats tools, and elevation data from the 3D Elevation Program (3DEP). This presentation covers several services that USACE regularly provides and how the USGS data are employed.

Our presenter will be Joe Trimboli. Joe is a Community Planner/Geographer for the Huntington District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
