Ocean engineer gives students a tour of USGS facilities

Schools are welcome to contact USGS about tours in Santa Cruz, California.

On March 25, ocean engineer Rob Wyland of the Pacific Coastal and Marine Science Center gave a tour and demonstration to roughly a dozen students from the engineering class he teaches at Cabrillo College, a local community college. Wyland showed students many of the tools and materials he uses on the job and discussed projects he works on. Co-worker Gerry Hatcher, another USGS ocean engineer described two of his current projects. Wyland gives these tours to help students understand careers in ocean engineering and the USGS.
