USGS Leetown Science Center to Host Earth Day Open House

USGS Leetown Science Center (LSC) to host Earth Day Open House on Sunday, April 28 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.

The center will be hosting a free Open House and Earth Day celebration. The day’s events will include hands-on-exhibits, demonstrations about fish and tours of the facility.

Demonstrations will highlight fish health and life cycles, showcase a living experimental stream, cover methods for early detection and defense against invasive species, and discuss how Leetown research is used to support conservation and restoration of fish species and their habitats from streams to deepwater ocean coral communities. USGS scientists will also provide an overview of the research conducted at Leetown, which is used by decision makers to sustainably manage the region’s recreational and commercial fisheries. New this year, Leetown will have interactive exhibits on the lifecycle of the eel along with a fishing demonstration on fly tying and fly casting. To download the list of exhibits, click here.

Additional information: If you are bringing a large group (>10) please call 304-724-4400 and RSVP by April, 26.
