Harrison is a Computer Scientist at the U.S. Geological Survey’s Ecoinformatics and Wildlife Technology branch (ECOTech) in the Fort Collins Science Center. He plays a key role in developing Siren: the National Early Detection and Rapid Response Information System for invasive species.

Harrison Alexander Pickett, IV is an accomplished computer scientist at the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), where he contributes significantly to the Ecoinformatics and Wildlife Technology branch (ECOTech) at the Fort Collins Science Center. In his role, he is instrumental in the development and maintenance of Siren: the National Early Detection and Rapid Response Information System for invasive species. His expertise in software development is complemented by a diverse technology stack, including Angular, Express, AWS services, and various database management systems. A veteran of the United States Air Force, Harrison served as a Tactical Aircraft Maintenance Journeyman before transitioning to the field of technology. This unique background has equipped him with strong problem-solving skills, an eye for detail, and a solid foundation in troubleshooting complex systems. Following his honorable discharge from military service, he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from The University of Iowa in December 2015. 

Since joining USGS in October 2022, Harrison has demonstrated his commitment to high-quality software engineering practices, collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure that the application meets the diverse needs of stakeholders. His responsibilities also include performing code reviews and developing comprehensive documentation and training materials. Prior to his work at USGS, Harrison held software development positions at CompuDharma and Western Express, where he gained valuable experience in PHP, JavaScript, and database management within various frameworks. With a passion for technology and a dedication to continuous professional development, Harrison is committed to contributing to ECOTech's mission of providing reliable scientific information to support wildlife management and conservation efforts. He resides in Smyrna, Tennessee, and is always keen to embrace new challenges in the realm of software development.
