Jeff Potts , MPH, CBSP

Jeff serves as the Biorisk Management Coordinator in the Office of Science Quality and Integrity (OSQI), where he serves as the bureau expert on risk mitigation measures involving biological hazards. 

He supports the LAB! initiative, by co-leading the Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) Work Group, which is charged with establishing a committee, developing bureau-level policy and guidance, and reviewing bureau proposed research involving recombinant or synthetic nucleic acid molecules. Jeff recently joined the USGS earlier this year and is part of the OSQI team. Prior to joining the USGS, Jeff worked for the National Institutes of Health as the chief of the Biorisk Management Branch, where he oversaw the biosafety, biosecurity, occupational health, and biological compliance for over 2000 laboratories across three campuses.
